Information for Grade 8 Students

Dear Grade 8 Families,

This is an exciting time for our 8th grade students!  Below is information on options for high school for our students. We are here to support you along the way!

The majority of our students will attend Foxborough High School. The counselors from FHS will come to Ahern and will talk to students about FHS and their program of studies (usually in January). Within a few weeks of the presentation, FHS counselors will come to Ahern classes and will help students with their course selection.  All students (even those awaiting admissions decisions from other schools) should complete their course selection at FHS.

What opportunities are available at the high school?

Visit the High School Guidance Website:
We encourage families to visit the high school guidance website to learn more about the wide variety of course offerings available to students. The website includes links to the current program of studies, as well as information about elective courses.

We are expanding Project Lead the Way Pathways: Foxborough High School currently offers Engineering and Biomedical Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Pathways within the Science department. Participating students can enroll in PLTW courses through the course selection process. These pathways consist of a prescribed set of courses to help students prepare for careers in Engineering and Medicine.

We are kicking off Innovation Career Pathways: Foxborough is seeking and will continue to build Innovation Career Pathways. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, FHS students will have access to the Manufacturing Pathway through the course selection process. Additional pathways will be added to meet the needs of students and their career interests. Much like PLTW, these pathways consist of a prescribed set of courses to help students prepare for college and career. Innovation Pathways also include 100-hour student internships in the workforce.
